Car tax rates from 1st April 2024

DVLA has sent out the new vehicle excise duty rates from 1st April 2024 for all cars on the road.  The most common vehicle tax for used petrol or diesel cars registered after 1st April 2017 is £190 annually. This is an increase of £10.  If you have an alternative fuel car, you get a £10 discount annually. You can opt to pay this monthly or annually.

If you are buying a new car then the rates are different,  it adds on amounts for CO2 emissions and expensive car supplement tax rates.

If your car is registered before 1st April 2017 the rates are different depending on the CO2 emissions of your car. These can vary from £0 to £735 for petrol or diesel cars.

For more information either contact us at simonshield@yahoo.co.uk or if you are renewing your tax it will automatically tell you what the new rate to pay is.
