Review of 2011 Mazda CX-7 2.2d Sport Tech
The mazda CX-7 is a mid sized crossover built in Japan. It came to light at the Paris Motor show in 2006. The front half is MPV minivan and rear suspension is Mazda 5. There were only 2 models offered in the UK 2.3T and 2.2d Sport Tech.
The unimaginative name CX stands for crossover. Both are 5 door options. The 2.2d Sport Tech is diesel, with a 6 speed gear box and 37mpg It was introduced later on, but made more sense to the consumer and this is the one I'm focussing on.
In 2009 this car had a facelift and the next-generation MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel common-rail engine, delivering a powerful 173bhp PS and 400Nm of maximum torque, with a new selective catalytic reduction system arrived. The first ever for Mazda.
All this kit is standard:
Blind spot indicator system
New compact Navigation system
Emergency Stop Signal
Mazda's All Wheel Drive system
It's so loaded with kit the only factory extra was the paint option.
It picked up two Towing awards:
Towcar Awards 2010
Best in Class title for the 1725-1899kg weight category.
Practical Caravan and 'What Car'
'Editors Choice' Towcar of the Year
Euro NCAP: 4
