MOT certificates now reveal car safety recalls

As of July 2023, MOT test certificates now include details of any outstanding safety recalls on your vehicle. This is a significant step forward in keeping drivers safe on UK roads.

How does it work? Major car manufacturers have joined the scheme, including Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Honda and the VW Group providing real-time recall data to the DVSA. This information is then displayed directly on your MOT certificate in the advisory section.

What does this mean for you?

If you have a recall - contact your local car manufacturer dealership and book it in for the recall.

Buying a used car? This new MOT feature makes it even easier to spot potential safety risks when buying a used car. At Simon Shield Cars, we always recommend checking for recalls as part of our comprehensive vehicle inspection.
