When Audi unveiled the A5 Coupe, its head of design at the time, Walter de Silva, made no secret of how proud he was of the result. In an official statement, he called it the most beautiful car I've ever designed and said it was well on its way to becoming a design icon.

The German Design Council agreed. The A5 Coupe went on to win the 2010 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, with de Silva collecting the honour at a ceremony in Frankfurt in February 2010.
